The eighth Weekend Media Festival, the largest gathering of the regional communication industry, has opened its doors at the old tobacco factory in Rovinj. In the next two days, under the sponsorship of Adris grupa, 4000 participants will be able to choose from over 60 lectures, panels, presentations, workshops and concerts, as well as hang out all day, exchange ideas and develop new projects.
The introduction to the Festival will feature tonight’s Weekend Welcome party where all participants will be able to enjoy the finest music selection from the best Croatian and regional DJs.
„In the past few days, the region has experienced strong dissections, but the Weekend has offered only good vibes. I believe that despite the logistical problems, everyone will eventually come to Rovinj, and we as organizers have offered help in getting here. We have two very intense days ahead of us, with plenty of exciting lectures and panels, great concerts and parties, but most of all, the creative networking that has become the foundation of Weekend Media Festival“, announced the Festival director, Tomo Ricov.
The conference part of the Weekend will start tomorrow morning and the first two lectures promise much excitement. The leaders of informative programs of all three Croatian national televisions will cross their spears at the „Life after 7:30“ pane, Scott Thwaites will talk about the Twitter experience being one of the most exciting networks in the world, and Lynne Montgomery will speak on the potential of Generation Y. The highlight of the morning program will most definitely be a panel discussion on digital business models which will feature Anthony le Roux, General Manager for Uber, Eastern Europe.
The 8th Weekend Media Festival will once again feature the revue of advertising agencies BalCannes, this time in cooperation with the global Epica awards, as well as the regional SoMo Borac which will awards the best digital projects in eight categories.
The music program stars this year will be Osijek-born and raised rapper Kandžija and his band Gole žene, the new sensation on the block Miki Solus as well as Zagreb veterans Kawasaki 3P.
With over 130 lecturers, panelists and workshop leaders, this year’s Weekend Media Festival has over 500 journalists as well as over 400 students from the entire region.
